Job's grandfather, Anthony Fields received his grant of land in 1824 in Spence Sett., Botsford Parish. On Sept. 11, 1864, Samuel Field was killed on his farm while going for a load of grain. Following Samuel's accidental death, his son Job inherited the homestead. It was on this farm near Murray Corner that Job and Elizabeth lived and raised their large family of six sons and six daughters. Job's maternal grandfather, John Grant, a native of Dollas, Aberdeen-shire, Scotland (1766-Mar. 1828) in 1809 took up a grant of land on the easterly side of L. Shemogue Harbour in NB. He m. Elizabeth Spence (1784-Jan. 1865) who came from Yorkshire with her parents, George & Mary C. Spence. Their daughter, Elizabeth Grant m. Samuel Field on January 20, 1829.
