Notes for John Bartlett LEE
John Bartlett had two daughters, Edith and Nellie. Nellie was music teacher and ran the china shop. John Bartlett inherited the cabinet shop and most of the family assets. John Bartlett was the Tax Collector for 30 years and Treasurer of Town Counsil for 42 years.

Mr. J.B. Lee, the son of the purchaser (John) of the Wear Gifford factory, in his business of a cabinet-maker in Great Torrington, for combing out the flock of mattresses, etc.--a little petrol engine now performs the work of the old water-wheel.

Took over his fathers furniture business which he continued to operate until his death. His wife died while the two daughters were children. Lived to be about 85 years old. He was district Treasurer for about 40 years.
